OYEP - Summer 2025

Youth in Birch River participating in the OYEP Training

NFMC continued its support of the Outland Youth Employment Program (OYEP), a summer training and work opportunity for high school aged Indigenous youth. OYEP has been operating in northern Manitoba for several years, originally at Egg Lake Camp north of The Pas and, more recently, in Birch River.

Each year, NFMC supports the program by lending brush saws and providing hands on learning opportunities. Participants gain experience using equipment during trail clearing and thinning activities, and spend time in the field learning about forest surveys, including Pre Harvest Forest Investigations and Forest Renewal Assessments. NFMC is proud to support this program and looks forward to continuing its involvement in the years ahead.
